Maintenance

This section will help you find relevant information about the maintenance and housekeeping of CxLink Datalakes.

Topics

Housekeeping

The following are a list of tasks that should be scheduled to ensure the system remains clean with no unnecessary data filling the system.

SAP SLT housekeeping job

The housekeeping job deletes unnecessary or outdated data from the database. Mainly, this is data that is related to replication logging or deleted configurations (some data is deleted asynchronously). Furthermore, this job aggregates replication statistics.

This job is automatically scheduled by SAP.

  • Ensure that the job is running successfully by checking the log executing in the SM37 transaction.

CxLink Datalakes stores the logs related with SAP SLT operations in the Application Logs logs, but there are other logs related with tasks related with CxLink Datalakes operability that are stored in an independent table. You can set the number of retention days for this logs in the Management Console.

To do so, follow next steps:

  1. Call transaction /n/LNKAWS/S4MANAGER
  2. Jump into Logs tab
  3. In the Config Log section set the desired Retention period (days). (You can set different retention number of days by setting the desired value in the Custom section)
  4. and Save

Considerations before a SAP update/upgrade

Before you execute a support package update on any CxLink Datalakes version, ensure that you take this considerations into account:

  • Deactivate all configurations that are using CxLink Datalakes as the target prior to the upgrade.
  • Update the package version.
  • Activate configurations again to resume load/replication operations.

Considerations while updating DMIS Component

CxLink Datalakes applies the custom logic to send the data to the supported AWS services by using the Business Add-In (BAdI) provided by SAP starting with version DMIS 2011 SP15 or higher.

SAP LT Replication Server SDK

As all our development has been done outside the DMIS logic, currently there are no considerations to be taken while upgrading DMIS component in your SAP Server, other that the considerations in place for the specific DMIS version itself (check the specific SAP Note for the version that you want to apply). Anyhow the following list is a good practice to be done before upgrading the package.

  • Deactivate all configurations prior to the upgrade.
  • Update the package version.
  • Activate configurations again to resume load/replication operations.

Considerations while upgrading your SAP Server version

If you plan to upgrade your SAP product version where CxLink Datalakes is installed, follow the guidelines described in the general SAP Upgrade process for CxLink ABAP Suite in Add-on maintenance section.
