Add-on Maintenance

This section provides information to help you install the CxLink ABAP Suite Add-on using SAINT transaction. It also provides information to help you configure the add-on to start working with it.

Ensure that all requirements are met before you start installing the SAP Add-on.

Obtaining the package

Active Contract

To be able to download the installation/upgrade add-on or any support package you will need to have an active contract. If you don't, check the Licensing Guide

Follow these steps to download the Add-on and the support packages available:

  1. From the CxLink ABAP Suite Service Hubopen in new window in the CxLink Portal, choose Packages under Resources section.

  2. Select your Release version, ensure that you are in the Installation section and choose Download the package.

  3. Open or download the Release Notes to find out the Installation or Upgrade Password

  4. Download the available Support Packages from the Maintenance section

Installing the add-on

Follow the next guidelines to install the add-on in your server.

  1. Log in to the client 000 of your SAP Server with a user with enough permissions.

  2. Call SAINT transaction.

  3. Load the Installation and Support Packages into your system. You can find additional information in the SAP Help Portalopen in new window

  4. Define the installation queue. Select the LNKAWS add-on package to be installed.

  5. Leave start options as default or check those needed for your SAP server.

  6. Install the queue. Installation starts straight after you have confirmed the start options. You can find additional information in the SAP Help Portalopen in new window

Update Support Package level

Support Package dependencies

There are no current dependencies on any existing support package regarding.

Follow the next guidelines to upgrade the Add-on in your server:

  1. Log into the client 000 of your SAP Server with a user with enough permissions.

  2. Call transaction SPAM

  3. In transaction SPAM go to menu option Support Package->Load Packages->From Application Server

    (Note: It will ask you if you want to upload the files: click the green check mark on the box that appears to upload the files.

    • If you are using this option, please make sure that the support packages are present in the <DIR_TRANS>/EPS/in/ directory.
    • If the files are still not present in the above directory then you can use the option Support Package->Load Packages->From Front-end to upload and uncar the packages.)
  4. The next screen will appear listing the files that you uploaded successfully (Note: Just click on the Back arrow to get back to the SPAM screen)

  5. On the SPAM screen, click on the Display/Define button. (Note: A box will appear with the Support Package categories (Basis, ABA, etc.))

  6. Click on the LNKAWS category and ensure that all uploaded support packages are listed.

  7. Confirm that you want to import the support package.

  8. Once it is done importing, you have to confirm the queue by clicking on the Confirm Queue button - this will turn the yellow light in the Status area to green.

Check logs

Always check your logs after applying support packages by clicking on the Logs button in the SPAM screen

SAP Upgrade process

CxLink ABAP Suite can be included in SAP upgrade process using the Software Update Manager.

Active Contract

To be able to download the Upgrade add-on or any support package you will need to have an active contract. If you don't, check the Licensing Guide

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. From the CxLink ABAP Suite Service Hubopen in new window in the CxLink Portal, choose Packages under Resources section.

  2. Select your Release version, ensure that you are in the Upgrade section and choose Download the package.

  3. Open or download the Release Notes to find out the Installation or Upgrade Password

  4. Download the available Support Packages from the Maintenance section

  5. Upload the package using Support Package -> Load Packages -> SAR Archive from Frontend in SAINT/SPAM transaction or by manually uploading and uncompressing the SAR file into the /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in.

  6. Once the Software Update Manager reaches the IS_SELECT phase, you will be prompted what to do with the LNKAWS package

  7. Mark the package and press Next.

  8. In the Decision About Add-On LNKAWS section, select Upgrade the add-on using SAINT package and Press Next

  9. If the package is correctly detected, you will find the new version as the Target Release column of the Add-on Selection section.

  10. Press Next and continue with the normal SUM upgrade process. No further actions are needed regarding CxLink ABAP Suite.
